Utility Relocation Frontage Road at Fort Worth Drive

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is widening Interstate Highway 35 (I-35) with an estimated construction start in September 2024. The I-35 Utility Relocation on the Frontage Road at Fort Worth Drive Project will move public utilities in support of TxDOT I-35 widening project with the relocation of 2,000 linear feet of water lines. This project is scheduled for 120 days of construction and is estimated to be completed in 2nd quarter 2024. Since the project is a forced relocation of City of Denton utilities, there will be reimbursements from TxDOT to support this effort at 100%.

    The Contractor made quick work of this project. A final walk should be scheduled for late Aug and closed out by the end of Sept.

    Bids closed 10 Apr 2024. Contract is looking to be awarded by Mid-June with Construction starting approximately Mid-July. Construction to take between 90 and 120 days.

    We are opening the project for contractors to bid on March 8th, 2024. The project will advertised for a total of 30 days. The contractors who can bid on the project are from a pre-qualified list to ensure the project goes smoothly.

    City council approved eminent domain authority for the two required easements. However, it is the hope and goal that the City and the land owner can come to an agreement without the use of eminent domain.
