The Lido, Olympia, Fox Hollow, and Timberidge (LOFT) Street Reconstruction Project is a part of the City's focus on rebuilding existing streets that have reached the end of their useful life. These streets were evaluated and given an Overall Condition Index (OCI) score of 20 or less. The City also intends to focus on one-time comprehensive neighborhood roadway infrastructure projects that complete both streets improvements.

The LOFT project consists of the street reconstruction of:

  • Lido Way (N. Bell Avenue to the cul-de-sac);
  • Balboa Court (Lido Way to the cul-de-sac)
  • Timberidge Street (Wilderness Street to Fox Hollow);
  • Olympia Drive (E. Windsor

  • Olympia Drive (E. Windsor Drive to the dead end); and
  • Fox Hollow (Timberidge Street to Kenwood Street).

The intended results of the LOFT Street Reconstruction Project will provide residents with a reconstructed street, among other improvements identified by residents dependent on funding and constructability.

    The City of Denton will hold a virtual community meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. regarding the active street construction and temporary traffic pattern changes as part of the Lido, Olympia, Fox Hollow, and Timberidge (LOFT) Street Reconstruction Project.

    Over the last week, City staff has responded to several individual community members’ questions related to the active construction for the LOFT project and would like to directly provide the same updates to all interested community members in the project area as quickly as possible, in addition to providing an opportunity for questions and input. During the virtual community meeting, residents and property owners can expect to:

    • Receive an update on the construction schedule for the LOFT CIP;
    • Receive an overview of the current and scheduled temporary traffic impacts and phasing; and
    • Have an opportunity to share questions and concerns with the project team.

    Construction for the LOFT project will be completed in phases to ensure safety, and access is maintained for motorists and residents in the area. The Balboa Court and Lido Way street segments will be completed first, followed by the Timberidge Street, Fox Hollow and Olympia Drive street segments. Below are the traffic impacts and construction schedule for the first phase of construction. The second phase of construction is expected to begin in the fall, and residents will be provided with traffic impacts and a construction schedule in advance of construction beginning.


    Here’s what to expect with the first phase of construction at Balboa Court and Lido Way:
    Weather permitting, Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, Aug. 13, the Southbound lane of Lido Way from Bell Avenue to the cul-de-sac and the Eastbound lane of Balboa Court will be closed. Local traffic will be two-way on the open lane of both Lido Way and Balboa Court with widened areas to pass by oncoming vehicles. The traffic pattern will be shifted on Monday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Sept. 10. Message boards and traffic control signage is now in place to notify community members and motorists of the upcoming construction and impacts to traffic. Access will be maintained for local residents and property owners throughout the temporary lane closures.

    COMMUNITY MEETING UPDATE: NEW DATE

    The City of Denton will hold a virtual Community Meeting on Thursday, March 18 at 6 p.m. regarding the Lido, Olympia, Fox Hollow, and Timberidge (LOFT) Street Reconstruction Project.

    The City will host the virtual community meeting to provide residents and property owners the opportunity to:
    • Receive an update on the status of the LOFT Street Reconstruction Project, and
    • Discuss input and concerns from community members.
    Staff from the City of Denton Capital Projects/Engineering Department and the City's consultant, Freese and Nichols, will be available to discuss the project and answer questions from those participating in the virtual meeting. The meeting will be hosted online using a remote format through the video-conferencing interface Zoom. Instructions on how to attend and participate in the virtual meeting are listed HERE.

    Beginning January 2021, the Lido, Olympia, Fox Hollow, and Timberidge (LOFT) Street Reconstruction Project is now in the advertise, bid and award phase. After a contract is awarded, this project will progress to the construction phase.
