PURPOSE

As Denton has grown over the years, so has the congestion on Mayhill Road. The City has been working to expand Mayhill from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway to accommodate traffic. Once complete, Mayhill Road will be able to handle the continued growth in the area and serve as an alternate route to Loop 288.

STATUS Phase 1 - COMPLETE From US 380/University south to approximately Quail Creek Road.

STATUS Phase 2 - From Phase 1 south to Colorado Boulevard will include extending existing Phase 1 Mayhill Road from approximately Quail Creek Road south to Colorado Boulevard. The new 4-lane divided roadway will include a new 4-lane bridge crossing Denton County Transit Authority (DCTA) rail line, new traffic signal at the intersection of Mayhill Road and Colorado Boulevard, a regional flood control structure, and side paths and trails.

What is the plan for the connection between Edwards and Mayhill?

rdbaldwin asked over 1 year ago

RDBALDWIN - Thank you for your question.  The Mayhill Phase 2 project will not change existing intersection of Edwards at Mayhill.  Sidewalks will be added, but the traffic lanes will stay the same.  Attached is the plan sheet showing the proposed work.  If this does not answer your question, please email me at Tracy.Beck@cityofdenton.com

When will Phase 2 be complete?

gp asked almost 2 years ago

Thank you for reaching out to the City and using our public engagement tools!  My name is Tracy and I am the Project Manager for Mayhill Phase 2.  We have been working hard to wrap up the Phase 2 project to get it to construction.  Unfortunately, there's additional coordination needed with DCTA and DART and some outstanding real estate items.  We are anticipating the project will take 2 years to construct once started and we are targeting start of construction to take place the end of this year.   I appreciate your question and if you have additional questions, feel free to contact me directly at Tracy.Beck@cityofdenton.com.
