North South Water Main
To accommodate growth, increase capacity, and improve water services, The City is in the process of installing the last phase of the 3 Phase - North South Water Transmission Main Project. Phase 1 completed in 2012, installed 16,580 linear feet of 30-inch and 42-inch water mains from Loop 288 south to Panhandle Street. Phase 2,completed in 2021 installed 10,000 linear feet of 36-inch and 42-inch water mains along Bonnie Brae Street from Roselawn Drive to I-35E Service Road. The current and final Phase of the North South Water Transmission Main Project will complete the route by providing 4,900 linear feet of 42-inch main along Bonnie Brae Street from I-35E Service Road to Panhandle Street. Mountain Cascade of Texas began work on Phase 3 on July 12, 2021. Weather permitting, Phase 3 is expected to be complete on or before the end of July 2022.

FINAL PAVING DELAY
Due to a major concrete shortage, curb and gutter installation on the northbound lane is occurring when concrete is available. Asphalt paving of the north bound lanes will occur upon completion of the curb and gutter.

3.16.2022 - Finalizing Construction
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkThe Contractor has completed the pipe installation and are in the testing phase of the new transmission main. Once testing has passed and the new water line is in service, the contractor will begin final paving of the roadway.
Paving is anticipated to begin by the end of March and be complete by the end of April 2022 (weather permitting).
All 4 lanes of Bonnie Brae will be milled and overlaid with asphalt providing a much needed surface condition improvement until the major widening and reconstruction project takes place.

12.20-12.22.2021 Bonnie Brae Shutdown to THRU Traffic
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkOn Monday December 20, 2021 Mountain Cascade will begin making the crossing of the 42-inch Transmission Main from the west side of Bonnie Brae Street to the east side, requiring a full closure at the open-cut location near 316 N. Bonnie Brae Street.
This work is anticipated to be complete by close of business on Wednesday December 22nd.
Therefore, Bonnie Brae Street will be closed from the Scripture Roundabout to Oak Street to THRU Traffic from Monday December 20 through Wednesday December 22, 2021.
Local traffic access to medical facilities, businesses and residences will be allowed.
Local traffic will need to access their destination either from the north or south end of 316 N. Bonnie Brae.
Detour signs will be posted accordingly.
Please notify employees, customers, family members and/or guests of the closure during this time.

Temporary Lane Closure Correction

The southbound lanes of Bonnie Brae Street are expected to reopen to traffic on or before April 2022. A copy of the corrected letter can be found under the project resources section of this page.

Construction Activities Resumes
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkby Stephanie Yates,Beginning Monday, July 12, construction is scheduled to resume on Bonnie Brae Street from I- 35E to Panhandle Street as part of the North South Water Main Phase 3 project. During this time, the southbound lanes of Bonnie Brae Street will remain closed to allow crews to safely complete installation of the 42-inch poly-coated steel pipe. The northbound lanes will continue to be used for north and south bound traffic. The temporary lane closures are expected to be reopened to traffic on or before mid-April 2022.

Construction Temporarily On Hold

City staff are assessing options to improve the driving surface of the project route where metal plates are temporarily in place until construction activities resume.

Phase 2 Construction Complete

Final construction activities and clean-up , including removal of construction materials and traffic control signage, is being completed. The project is expected to closeout by March 2021. Phase 3 (I-35E to Scripture) construction activities are temporarily on hold. A project status update for this phase of the project will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

Community Meeting March 18, 2020
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkby Stephanie Yates,The City of Denton will hold an Informational Public Meeting on Wednesday, March 18 regarding the North South Water Main Phase 2 Capital Improvement Project at Bonnie Brae Street from Interstate 35 (I-35) to Roselawn Drive.
The public meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Borman Elementary School cafeteria, 1201 Parvin St. Denton, TX 76205. Free parking is available in the schools parking lot.
This upcoming meeting will include information on:
• An overview of the project and completed improvements;
• The remaining phase of construction and traffic impacts to expect;
• The tentative timeline of the projects scheduled final completion;
• Other neighborhood concerns that residents would like to voice.
Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback to City of Denton staff during the open house style meeting. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and resident are welcome to come and go at their convenience. North South Water Main Phase 2 Construction Update

Weather permitting, Bonnie Brae will be closed to through traffic between the Willowwood and Highland Park Intersections until Friday, Mar. 20.
On Friday Jan. 31, Thalle Construction reopened Bonnie Brae Street from Solar Way to Highland Park, including the Highland Park Intersection.
Residents affected by this closure will need to use the posted detour route. As always, this schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
