Desired Outcomes & Project Goals

During the Southeast Denton Area Plan project's 8-month-long community engagement period, the SEDAP project team received feedback from Southeast Denton residents and stakeholders that can be summarized by the following Desired Outcomes:

  • A fair share of political, economic, and social investment from the City
  • A community that celebrates its Black cultural roots
  • A variety of housing types and pricing options to allow a diverse range of ages and incomes to call this area home
  • A safe, accessible, and connected network for all modes of travel
  • Public spaces and amenities (parks, programming, activities) that are equitable

These desired outcomes informed the following Goals:

  • Building Trust within the community and with the City as a whole
  • Honoring the Culture and Heritage of Southeast Denton
  • Investing in Economic Prosperity
  • Strengthening Neighborhoods and Housing Affordability
  • Elevating the quality of public infrastructure
  • Creating a safe and connected, multi modal travel system

These desired outcomes and goals were discussed, refined, and validated during the February 15, 2024 Southeast Denton Area Plan Steering Committee meeting. Based on the Desired Outcomes and Goals, as well as the SEDAP Project Team's analysis of Existing Conditions, the SEDAP Project Team recommends a series of Strategies. Once there is a consensus on the Recommended Strategies, the project team will propose action steps for the implementation of the recommended strategies.
