Listening Sessions - Round 1

Join the Southeast Denton Area Plan project team at one of the upcoming Southeast Denton Area Plan Community Listening Sessions!

We want to plan a bright future for the Southeast Denton community – and we want to do it with you.

The Southeast Denton Area Plan project team invites you to come make your voice heard at one of the upcoming community listening sessions organized to help us identify aspects of the Southeast Denton Area Plan study area that are important to you.

These community listening sessions are the first step in our year-long effort to focus on understanding the concerns, needs, and suggestions of the Southeast Denton community, incorporating those needs and suggestions into a plan, and then focusing on ways to make the plan become reality. The plan will help identify what is most important to the community, determine needs for public improvements, guide future zoning decisions, and more.

The area plan process will include listening to the community, establishing a vision for the area, identifying areas of importance to residents and stakeholders, determining areas where change can occur, and directing public investments. The area plan will include implementation actions that respond to community input and development pressure in the area. Some examples of implementation actions include:

Improved streets and sidewalks that provide safety for people walking and biking, as well as people in vehicles
Improved open spaces, parks, trails, and other recreational amenities
Improved drainage channels and flood prevention
Guidance for City staff regarding future zoning decisions

To encourage open input and communication, the City has hired a professional planning consultant to conduct the community listening sessions and summarize the feedback received at these sessions into a report. No personally identifiable information will be shared with the City.
