Residents and travelers along Teasley Lane/FM 2181 in south Denton know this area can get very busy. To relieve congestion and better accommodate growth, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is widening the existing two-lane road to a six-lane divided urban roadway from Lillian Miller Parkway to the Corinth city limit.

To relieve congestion and better accommodate growth, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is widening the existing two-lane road to a six-lane divided urban roadway from Lillian Miller Parkway to the Corinth city limit.

  • Traffic Patterns to Switch Night of 12/21/21

    TxDOT's road construction contractor is set to switch traffic patterns on the FM 2181 project the night of 12/21/21 into the morning of 12/22/21. This traffic switch will take the project from Phase 2 to Phase 3, and will shift all traffic onto the new Southbound pavement. During the traffic switch temporary delays and road closures are expected at all intersections, and cross streets from Bent Oaks Dr. to FM 2499 while traffic signals and barricades are being shifted.   • TxDOT to Continue Nightly Paving and Complete a Traffic Pattern Switch on FM 2181

    Beginning Thursday, Sept. 16 through Friday, Oct. 15, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will continue overnight paving on southbound FM 2181 from Montecito Drive to Old Alton Road as part of their active road widening and reconstruction project. On Monday, Sept. 20, TxDOT is planning to also complete a traffic pattern switch on southbound FM 2181 from Montecito Drive to Old Alton Road.

    During the overnight paving construction, traffic control flaggers and brief intermittent lane closures will be in place to allow concrete trucks to safely cross the roadway, but traffic will be able travel through the work zone. Delays and backups may occur so motorists are reminded to adhere to all posted construction signage and use caution when traveling in the area.

  • Nightly Paving Construction Scheduled to Begin Tuesday, Aug. 24

    Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Sept. 17, the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) will begin nightly paving construction from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. along Teasley Lane/FM 2181 between Wind River Lane and Barrel Strap Road as part of their active road widening and reconstruction project. During this time, brief intermittent lane closures maybe in place to allow concrete trucks to safely cross the roadway. Delays and backups may occur so motorists are reminded to adhere to all posted construction signage and use caution when traveling in the area.

    TxDOT plans to shift traffic to the newly paved lanes in October 2021 and begin the reconstruction of the old lanes at that time. The Teasley Lane/FM 2181 project is scheduled to be complete by June 2022.

  • City-Managed Utility Relocations Complete

    The relocation of City utilities along FM-2181 has been completed. TxDOT’s crews are currently completing the drainage improvements and constructing the new
    lanes of the roadway. Multiple traffic shifts are to be expected from now until the completion of the project.

    Crews recently completed the water and drainage line and structure improvements. In the next month, crews are completing drainage construction and lime treated subgrade for the southbound main lanes along the project route.

    TxDOT crews are currently continuing to work with utilities on construction conflicts and relocations. Next month construction activities will include the continuation of concrete paving main lanes on the southbound lanes on FM 2181. Concrete driveways are being completed for this phase and roadway excavation in the southbound lanes.
