The City of Denton Parks and Recreation Department owns a 23.52-acre developed parcel named Denia Park, located at 1001 Parvin St., Denton, TX 76205. The park features a recently installed playground, four softball fields, batting cages, parking lots, futsal court, trail, three half basketball courts, a multi-purpose field, benches, picnic tables, and a small pavilion. City Council adopted the Parks, Recreation, and Trails System Master Plan on March 1, 2022. The Master Plan provides an analysis of various parks, (includes Denia) and gives the department guidance in addressing short and long-term goals as funding allows. This agreement is vital in future planning for Parks and Recreation and its mission to serve and meet the community's needs.

The scope of the project improvements will consist of public engagement, design, and construction. The items currently identified as improvements include but are not limited to the following: Loop trail to increase access and connectivity on east & to soccer field, irrigation to improve existing issues and turf quality, softball field improvements for safety, and landscaping improvements.

Parks and Recreation will schedule public meetings later this spring. Updates and information relating to the project will be updated below. Please subscribe within the icon on the top right of this page to be notified when new updates are uploaded.

Lee asked about 2 years ago

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for reaching out. Great Question! This is something we will be talking about in our public meeting, but there will be a connection into the Eagle Creek Neighborhood. This access will come from the trail around the soccer field, we have an easement from DISD to go through the back end of the Borman Elementary property connecting into Eagle Creek.

Overall, the Denia Park trail improvements will provide loop access throughout the park with connections to Eagle Creek. As far as improvements or access to Roselawn or Parvin, those will remain on-street pending any road improvements. Please join us at the hybrid public input meeting scheduled on January 20. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,

    Chris Escoto, Park Planner
