Mingo - RR Quiet Zone

Welcome to the MRQZ Project (Mingo-Ruddell-Quiet Zone) which was approved in the City of Denton’s 2023 Bond Program. MRQZ comprises four interconnected projects aimed at improving infrastructure and safety. These include:

1. Ruddell Street Improvements (University/US 380 to Mingo Road)
2. Ruddell Street Extension with a new railroad crossing (Mingo Road to Texas Street)
3. Mingo Road Improvements (Bell Avenue to Mockingbird Lane)
4. Mingo Quiet Zone upgrades (Frame Street to Mockingbird Lane)

The project focuses on enhancing road capacity, street lighting, bike/pedestrian facilities, and railroad quiet zones. It also involves creating one new railroad crossing (UPRR at Ruddell), removing two existing crossings (UPRR at Pertain St., UPRR at Willis St.), and upgrading others for safety. Additional work will include replacement of aging water and sanitary sewer lines and conducting a drainage study for the area near the existing (and future) City of Denton Service Center.
