Beginning around April 21, Denton Parks and Recreation will begin a phased improvement project at the North Lake Dog Park that will replace the existing decomposed granite trails with concrete as well as improve stormwater drainage and ADA-compliant accessibility ramps. The project will take place in four phases as illustrated in the accompanying exhibit. Staff will ensure that access to the large and small dog pens will continue to be available during this process. However, the small dog pen will be inaccessible during Phase 3 since the only access point will be blocked for that period. The public will be informed about the project through Denton Parks and Recreation social media, Discuss Denton, and through signage placed at the park. The project should be fully completed by the end of June.

Parks is currently in the permit process and anticipate going to construction near the end of the month. Signage will be installed directing users prior to construction. Temporary erosion control will be installed the week of 4/14
Parks will begin construction phase 1 of this park improvement project staring on 5/2/25. Phase one consists of demolition and replacing the trail starting at the edge of the animal shelter all the way to the north gate of the circular play area. All play areas will remain open during this phase.
