    Recommended Strategies

    The Southeast Denton Area Plan Project Team is seeking feedback on strategies to ensure the Plan achieves the Desired Outcomes collected from residents and stakeholder of the Southeast Denton study area.


    Once there is a consensus on the Recommended Strategies, the project team will propose action steps for the implementation of the recommended strategies.

    People-Based Economic Development Survey

    The Southeast Denton Area Plan (SEDAP) was approved by Denton City Council on Monday, July 23, 2024. Now, the City has funds to assist small businesses and facilitate financial workshops to help achieve some of the economic development goals of Southeast Denton. The purpose of this survey is to help the City understand what assistance you need. We are requesting you kindly complete this survey to help us develop the programming to address the people-based economic needs in Southeast Denton.

  • Southeast Denton Overlay Districts Survey

    Overlay Districts are zoning regulations that sit on top of existing zoning to modify regulations where needed. The Southeast Denton Area Plan proposes the following three overlay districts:

    • Residential Overlay District to encourage housing that meets the community’s vision to maintain the scale and character of the neighborhoods while encouraging community investment.  (YELLOW SHADING BELOW)  
    • Live-Work Overlay District to support community entrepreneurship focusing on stand-alone commercial uses along a section of East Prairie Street and small mom and pop businesses in portion of single-family homes. (PINK SHADING BELOW)
    • Height Overlay District to prevent the encroachment of downtown-style development in Southeast Denton. (BLUE SHADING BELOW)
