The Advanced Funding Agreement (AFA) with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is to allow the replacement of the off-system, one-lane bridge to a two-lane bridge located at Trinity Road and Cooper Creek. This project requires the relocation of the City of Denton owned wastewater line that is in conflict with the bridges proposed alignment. The design of the wastewater line relocation is underway with the City of Denton's Internal team. TXDOT plans on letting this project for bidding in March of 2025. The City of Denton plans to have the wastewater line relocated prior to that so that TXDOT can move to construction in quarter 2 of 2025.

This bridge qualified for the Bridge Inventory, Inspection, and Appraisal Program due to a low-ranking score of >50 due to it possessing obsolete functionality. One lane bridges no longer provide the capacity for todays standard traffic flows. This improvement will increase safety and functionality at this location by converting this corridor to include a dual lane, bi-directional bridge which helps to ensure adequate capacity and traffic flow.

Good afternoon.  The four-week duration was in reference to the wastewater utility relocation that the City performed.  I have reached out to TXDOT regarding their schedule for the bridge construction and will try to update this response when I hear back from them.  The drawings for the new bridge are not the City's to release.  They are owned by TXDOT so you would need to reach out to them directly or fill out a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.  I do not have info on the cameras but I would be happy to meet you on-site next week to discuss.  I can be reached at (940)349-8182.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Good morning, aside from the upcoming project to reconstruct the single-lane bridge at Trinity Rd and Mills Rd., there are no other plans for roadway improvements or expansions at this time. Good morning, the new bridge alignment will include a softened skew on the NW portion of the bridge. This will result in a more gradual curve on the north side of the bridge compared to the existing left and right turns. With this change, the stop sign on the north side of the bridge will be deleted, allowing north and southbound travel to have right of way and eastbound travel along Mills Rd. will have a stop sign at Trinity Rd.
