UPDATE, The Denton City Council approved the Commercial Diversion Article on July 18, 2023, 6-0. Solid Waste and Recycling will implement the article in phases and provide an allotted time period to respond. Please check back for reporting requirements.
The City of Denton is seeking the implementation of a Commercial Diversion Article (CDA). The CDA would require all multi-family and commercial properties to implement a diversion/recycling program.
If adopted, this article would require that your business or entity contract with either the City of Denton for recycling services or a City-approved third-party recycler. Each business would notify the Solid Waste and Recycling department of its desired plan for diversion within the given period provided.
The proposed CDA is scheduled as a Council work session item on June 27, 2023. As a part of the process, we are seeking public comments on the proposed article. Please provide your thoughts and comments on the feedback below.
The following items are accepted in the City of Denton's Recycling Program:
Cardboard and boxboard (flatten boxes)
Paper: junk mail, magazines, newspaper (No napkins, tissues, paper towels, or paper plates)
Glass bottles and jars (remove all lids)
Aluminum and steel cans (No scrap metal)
Poly-coated cartons
Plastic bottles, tubs, and jugs (No plastic bags, wrap, film, or Styrofoam)
