Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 Project
The Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 project is located on Hickory Creek Road from Riverpass Drive to FM-1830. To improve safety and mobility in the area, the project includes the design and construction of a four-lane extension and realignment of Hickory Creek Road from Riverpass Drive to FM-1830, and the construction of a bridge that will span Hickory Creek and remove the safety concern of the 90 degree curve from the current Hickory Creek alignment. We ask that as this construction is underway please use caution and obey all warning signs related to the project. Denton County is currently completing the construction of HIlltop Road that ties into the Hickory Creek Rd Ph 3 project, and the two way traffic of HIlltop Rd is scheduled to be restored in the next two weeks. For your safety please avoid entering into the active construction areas of the project unless you are a landowner or a resident within the road closure area. Closure Update
Share Closure Update on Facebook Share Closure Update on Twitter Share Closure Update on Linkedin Email Closure Update linkThe section of Hickory Creek Road from Riverpass to FM1830 (Country Club) had to be closed this morning by Kansas City Southern Railway for maintenance repairs to the rail crossing to be performed. The repairs are estimated to take one day to be completed. This closure is not part of the HIckory Creek Road Phase 3 project. Staff will provide further updates as the work is completed. Right of way clearing and prep will begin in the next few weeks followed by followed by excavation and bridge installation, pending no major weather events. The City of Denton is in coordination with Denton County Road and Bridge as they complete the road work on Hilltop Road that ties into the Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 project. Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 is still on schedule to be complete by Q4 2024. The structures for the transfer of the electric line have been completed and are awaiting the scheduled approved timing. As this line is a transmission line and not a distribution line residents in the area should not experience any power outages.

Sign up to attend the Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 virtual community meeting HERE.
The City will host the virtual community meeting to provide residents and property owners the opportunity to:
- Receive an update on the status of the Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 Project,
- Receive an update on the design and construction timeline for Hickory Creek Road Phase 3; and
- Discuss input and concerns from community members.
Staff from the City of Denton Capital Projects/Engineering Department will be available to discuss the project and answer questions from those participating in the virtual meeting. The meeting will be hosted online using a remote format through the video-conferencing interface Zoom.
