To accommodate mobility needs, Bonnie Brae Street is being expanded from a two-lane undivided rural roadway to a four-lane divided urban street. This six-phase project has three phases completed (1,2 & 4A), Phase 3 is currently in construction. Below are the project limits and status for each phase.

PROJECT PHASES & STATUS

Phase 1 (Roselawn to North of Vintage Boulevard) - COMPLETE

Phase 2 (I-35W TO US 377 Includes Vintage Blvd) - COMPLETE

Phase 3 (Roselawn to IH-35E) IN CONSTRUCTION | Project Timeline: 2023 - 2026

Sundt Construction was issued a Notice to Proceed on October 16, 2023. The project is expected to be complete in November 2026 (weather permitting).

Any full or partial lane closures lasting longer than 2 days will be updated on the city street closure report: Weekly Street Closure Report. Message Boards will be updated with any closures and detours will be posted accordingly.

Phase 4A (Roundabout at Scripture | Project Timeline: 2019 - 2020 - COMPLETE

Phase 5 (Roundabout at Scripture to US380) | Project Timeline: TBD

Recently, this section of roadway was re-paved as part of the North South Water Phase 3, 42-inch Water Transmission Main project. Phases 4B & 5 of the Bonnie Brae Roadway Project will provide a 4-lane divided roadway with a raised median and tie into the US380-University Drive Intersection matching the Bonnie Brae Phase 6 alignment.

Project phases are listed for active and/or planned projects.  These phases reflect the range of a project life cycle from project initiation to project completion & close-out.  The year range reflected is for the estimated construction timeline only.   These estimated construction timelines may change due to weather, contractor scheduling, material delays, and/or other factors. Timelines will be updated when needed.  All Bonnie Brae Phases are shown, including COMPLETED Phases in an effort to show the entire Bonnie Brae Corridor.

    The Bid Opening Meeting was held on August 28, 2024. The Bid Results are being analyzed by the City and TxDoT for the project to move forward.

    Internal design work is currently underway, with the road alignment already determined. The road and utility design processes are actively progressing, focusing on integrating all necessary elements into the other plan sets.

    The Bidding Phase continues for the project. The Pre-Bid Meeting is scheduled to occur on August 8th. The Pre-Bid Meeting is a meeting that is held to answer any questions that potential Bidders might have before they submit their bids.

    After a successful meeting with the Solicitation Review Committee, the Bonnie Brae Phase 6 Improvement Project will advertise for bidding starting on July 19, 2023.

    With the completion of topographic and boundary surveys as a crucial step in this project phase now complete. Internal Design is currently underway.

    The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDoT) is completing their final review of the construction plans and project manual. Once that process is complete, TxDoT will issue a Letter of Approval to bid the project.

    With the completion of topographic and boundary surveys as a crucial step in this project phase now complete. These surveys provide detailed information about the land's features and boundaries, which is essential for accurate design and planning. The data will now be review from our internal Engineering group to design a plan that best fits the Phase 4 and Phase 6 sections.

    In addition to completing the construction plan set, completing the Contract Documents are equally important. The Contract Documents help in leading the City and the Contractor through the bidding and construction process.

    The City's Consultant Engineer continues to make revisions as TxDoT progresses with their review.
