Bonnie Brae Street
To accommodate mobility needs, Bonnie Brae Street is being expanded from a two-lane undivided road to a four-lane divided road. This six phase project has two phases completed, one phase substantially complete and nearing close-out and two phases gearing up to advertise for construction bids (Q3-2022) Below are the project limits and status for each phase.

Bonnie Brae Phase 2 Update: Traffic Pattern Shift on Bonnie Brae Street Beginning Next Week
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkby Stephanie Yates,Beginning Monday, August 9, Bonnie Brae Street from Vintage Boulevard to Old Bonnie Brae, southbound traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed lane to allow crews to continue paving at the intersection. Motorists traveling in the area will be on this new traffic alignment until the Bonnie Brae Phase 2 (Bonnie Brae from I-35W to US 377) construction activities are expected to be complete in September 2021. Delays and backups are possible so motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling in the area and adhere to all posted construction signage.

New Lanes Now Open on Bonnie Brae Street

Today, April 14, construction crews opened the newly constructed westbound traffic lanes on Vintage Blvd from Bonnie Brae Street to I-35W and shifted traffic from the old lanes so they can begin reconstruction. Motorists traveling in the area will be on this new traffic alignment until this phase of Bonnie Brae project is expected to complete in early June 2021.
Current Construction and Traffic Impacts
Construction to reconstruct Bonnie Brae Street from Vintage Boulevard to Napa Valley is now underway, as well as work to connect the new Bonnie Brae bridge for traffic traveling southbound on Bonnie Brae Street from the newly constructed bridges to Vintage Blvd.
Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling in the area. Arrow boards to alert drivers of the current construction and new traffic pattern are in place. -
Project Phases Update

Phase 3 (Roselawn to I-35) is expected to start construction in summer 2021 and has an estimated completion date of Q3 2023. Phase 4B-6 (I-35 to US77) are currently in the design phase and will progress to advertise, bid and award phase when complete.

Vintage Boulevard to Roselawn Drive Southbound Lanes Now Open to Traffic
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkby Stephanie Yates,Beginning today, Feb. 8, the southbound lanes on the new bridge at Bonnie Brae Street from Vintage Boulevard to Roselawn Drive is now open to traffic as part of the Bonnie Brae Phase 1 project! The Bonnie Brae Phase 1 project limits include Bonnie Brae Street from Roselawn Drive to north of Vintage Boulevard.
With traffic in both directions now open on the new bridge, crews will begin reconstructing old Bonnie Brae Street. To allow crews to safely complete the remaining construction activities, intermittent lane closures may be in place as crews safely complete the remaining construction activities. The Bonnie Brae Phase 1 project remains on schedule for construction activities to be complete by March 2021. -

New Bridge Scheduled to Open to Traffic
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this linkby Stephanie Yates,Weather permitting, Tuesday, Jan. 19, crews will begin switching the northbound traffic lanes of Bonnie Brae St. from Vintage Blvd. to Roselawn Dr. onto the new bridge as part of Phase 1.
The traffic switch is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. The southbound traffic lanes are scheduled to remain on the existing roadway for another 4 to 5 weeks, weather permitting, until the intersection construction is complete. Until the switch is complete, and over the new few weeks, intermittent lane closures may be in place as crews safely complete the remaining construction activities. Phase 1 remains on schedule to be open by March 2021. -

Traffic is scheduled to be placed on the bridge in the coming weeks. Final construction activities and clean-up are in progress for Phase 1. Construction activities for Phase 2 (Vintage Boulevard; I35W to US377) currently include roadway paving, street light conduit installation and inlet top installation.

- Discuss input and concerns from community members.
Staff from the City of Denton Capital Projects/Engineering and Real Estate departments will be available to discuss the project and answer questions from those participating in the virtual meeting.
