The W. Westgate Drive Improvement Project will reconstruct the street to meet City of Denton residential standards. The project is divided into two phases, with Phase 1 set to begin in mid-June. This phased approach aims to complete a portion of the roadway before the 2025-2026 school year to help reduce traffic congestion during school drop-off and pickup.
Phase 1 includes constructing wet utilities, streetlights, pedestrian improvements, and roadway connectivity from Bronco Way to the existing W. Westgate Drive segment leading to the I-35 access road.
Phase 2 will improve the stretch from Windsor Drive/Westgate Drive to the I-35 access road, and the stretch along Westgate Drive/Windsor Drive, connecting to the Bronco Way intersection. Project scope will also include water, sanitary sewer upgrades, streetlights, pedestrian mobility enhancements, drainage improvements, and full-depth roadway reconstruction.

The City of Denton Real Estate Department and the Consultant Engineer have begun the process of preparing documents for right-of-way acquisitions.

The Engineering/Capital Improvement Project Department have completed their review of the "request for qualifications" process from a list of prequalified engineering firms. The selected engineering firm has been approached by City staff to submit their proposal for the completion of the design.
