Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 Project

The relocation of the ONCOR line was scheduled to begin in January for the Hickory Creek Rd PH 3 project, but do to the inclement weather conditions and railroad coordination it had to be rescheduled . Staff is working with ONCOR and Kansas City Southern Railroad to reschedule the relocation and will post timelines once they have been confirmed. City staff is also coordinating with the contractor to address citizen concerns with the temporary pavement section of the existing Hilltop Road. Please remember to observe all construction warning signs and detour routes as the project progress toward the Q2 2025 estimated completion date. The Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 project is currently coordinating with ONCOR on the relocation of the power line on the east side of the project. Estimated completion of the power line relocation is January 2024. The project itself has a new estimated completion of Q2 2025. The Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 project is currently filling in the abutments, hauling dirt in for fill areas, and constructing temporary haul roads. We ask that as this construction is underway please use caution and obey all warning signs related to the project. Denton County has completed the construction of HIlltop Road that ties into the Hickory Creek Rd Ph 3 project, and the two way traffic of HIlltop Rd has been restored. Staff will keep the project page updated alerting residents of any future traffic pattern changes. For your safety please avoid entering into the active construction areas of the project unless you are a landowner or a resident within the road closure area. The section of Hickory Creek Road from Riverpass to FM1830 (Country Club) had to be closed this morning by Kansas City Southern Railway for maintenance repairs to the rail crossing to be performed. The repairs are estimated to take one day to be completed. This closure is not part of the HIckory Creek Road Phase 3 project. Staff will provide further updates as the work is completed. Crews have completed the electric utility relocation for the Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 project. Right of way clearing and prep will begin in the next few weeks followed by followed by excavation and bridge installation, pending no major weather events. The City of Denton is in coordination with Denton County Road and Bridge as they complete the road work on Hilltop Road that ties into the Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 project. Hickory Creek Road Phase 3 is still on schedule to be complete by Q4 2024.
