Southeast Denton Street Reconstruction

Southeast Denton Package A - Utility crews have completed work on Johnson and Industrial St. Water installation will be taking place on Mill St through April. Subgrade stabilization is underway on Johnson, Industrial and Wye. Paving to begin on those segments in early April pending weather. Project on schedule to be complete Aug 2023.

Southeast Denton Package B – Utility crews continue installation of domestic water and sanitary sewer lines on S Bradshaw St (E Prairie St to E Sycamore St), Smith St (Dallas Dr to Johnson St), Smith St (Dallas Dr to Hill St), Wainwright St (E Highland St to E Prairie St) and Maddox St. The earthwork crews have mobilized to E Prairie St (Lakey St to S Bradshaw St) to prepare area for asphalt paving in the coming weeks and the flatwork concrete crew has mobilized to E Highland St (S Locust St to Wainwright St), Avenue S, and E Prairie St (Lakey St to S Bradshaw St) to start work on sidewalks, curb and gutter, and pavement. Asphalt paving crews have completed asphalt pavement operations on E Highland St (S Locust St to ) and Bailey St (Wilson St).

• Upcoming Streets (tentative start date 4/24/23): Wainwright St (E Prairie St to E Sycamore St) and E Sycamore St (Wainwright St to Industrial St)

Southeast Denton Package A - Utility crews are working on Johnson st and Mill st with installation of the wastewater lines. Paving crews are working on Wye st and Allen st. Paving should begin 2/16 and be complete by 2/24 on Allen and Wye. Project is still on schedule to be complete summer of 2023.

Southeast Denton Package B – Utility crews have begun asphalt milling and excavation for the installation of domestic water and sanitary sewer lines on Bailey St, S Bradshaw St (E Prairie St to Wilson St), E Highland St (S Locust St to Wainwright St), and Smith St – Phase 1 (Dallas Dr to Johnson St). Earthwork and flatwork concrete crews plan to follow in the coming weeks.

• Upcoming Streets (tentative start date 3/6/23): Maddox St, Avenue S, and Smith St – Phase 2 (Dallas Dr to Hill St)

Southeast Denton Package A - Utility crews are completing water/wastewater installation on Wye and Allen streets. Crews will be moving to Mill street and Industrial street for utility installation. Flat work and paving crews will begin on Wye and Allen once utilities crews mobilize out.

Southeast Denton Package B - Contractor has mobilized in and will begin utility installation on Jan 30. First streets will be Smith St at Dallas Dr, E Highland at Locust, Bailey St at Wilson st, and Bradshaw St between Sycamore and Wilson. Paving crews will follow utility installation crews in each segment.

Crews have begun utility work on Wye st and Allen st. Paving crews will be focusing on Robertson st and Cook st. Asphalt is tentatively set to be placed on those 2 roadways the week of 12/19 pending weather.

The City of Denton will hold a Community Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. regarding the street and utility improvements in the area as part of the Southeast Denton Neighborhood Capital Improvement Project (CIP).

During this time we plan to:

• Receive an overview of the Southeast Denton Neighborhood Package A & B CIP project.
• Meet the Southeast Denton Package B Contractor, McCarthy Building Companies.
• Receive an update on project scope, timeline, and expected impacts during construction; and
• Answer any questions the Community Members may have

Crews are currently paving Jackson, Hill Alley, Martin, and Morse st (Lakey-DCTA Tracks). Utility crews are working on Robertson, followed by Cook st and Wye st. Project is on track for completion in summer of 2023.

Crews have completed the utility installation on Morse Street, Jackson Street, Hill Alley Street, and Martin Street. Testing procedures will begin the week of September 12th followed by roadway demo and stabilization. Paving is anticipated to start the first week of October, pending weather. Utility crews have moved to Robertson Street to be followed by Cook Street. Southeast Denton Package A is still on schedule to be complete by summer of 2023.

Crews will be moving in to begin construction on SED-A beginning the week of June 6th.
